An excellent example of circular economy

Eramet Norway Kvinesdal is an SiMn-smelter. Eramet Norway took over the smelter in Kvinesdal from Tinfos in 2008. The plant started production in 1974 and has an efficient production flow with its three silicomanganese furnaces and compact infrastructure.

HCFeMn slag from the Sauda plant is used in the production, contributing to the company’s internal slag balance, and is an excellent example of circular economy. A thermal power plant was built next to the smelter in 1981. The power plant produces about 80 GWh of electrical energy per year, and the surplus heat is used both internally and by external customers, including Stolt Sea Farms fish farm for turbot which is located on the neighbouring plot.
